10 Days Sea Kayaking!!

10 Days Sea Kayaking


4 Days sea kayaking in the Abel Tasman,

Day 1: Got ready and drove through the snow in Reefton up to Kaiteriteri.
Day 2: Starting kayaking from Stevens Bay up to visit Split Apple Rock,  then we had lunch on Adele Island, in the afternoon padlling to Mosquito Bay.

Day 3: Morning paddle  to Shag Harbour  via the seal colony on Tonga Island, then all the way up north to Totaranui for a look around , back late afternoon to Tonga Bay for camp .

Day 4: Could paddle up to Falls River,  into the lagoon of Frenchmans Bay and then back to Apple Tree bay for the night.

Day 5: Early start and without any stops straight  back  to Stephens Bay. Loading the the vans and driving  to the Marlborough Sounds

Day 6: My Birthday! Kayak from Momorangi Bay  to Blumine Island. Saw some Dolfins!! That night we slept in a old gun imbankment in the hill, arrived  there in the dark.

Day 7: Paddling over to Ships Cove for lunch and then out to the island to go fishing and get some pauwa mussles, then kayaking to Resolution Bay for a cold night camping.

Day 8: Out to visit Long Island and enjoyed an amazing lunch out there (Almost  summer temperatures) had blue cod and mussles for lunch. Then down wind to Ruakaka Bay for the last night in the Sounds.

Day 9: Kayaked back out to Momorangi Bay, ( saw some more Dolfins) and  then drove to Outward Bound  School in Anakiwa.  Had a guided tour around the complex  before putting up our tents  in the paddock out in the back.

Day 10: Drive home to Greymouth  then clean, maintain and unpack all the gear.
